Art & Design

Art, Design, and Creativity have played a large role in my life for as long as I can remember. In school as a kid I got in trouble for doodling all over my papers or desk. In my teen years I became inspired by the artwork of album and book covers.

Round about 1979 things really kicked in when I became obsessed with the art of Roger Dean who did the album covers for the band YES. My dad bought me a copy of his book "Views" which detailed his life, career, and many of his now famous painting and industrial designs. His work fascinated me and I started to draw. I drew and drew and drew using colored pencils that my mom gave me. I emulated Roger Dean's art and soon began to create my own original art, but still much influence by Roger Dean. I eventually went to college for a period taking a multitude of art and design classes.

Although I did veer off that path for a period of my life, I eventually returned to school in 1991 which quickly led to my securing a job and career in design. I've been working in the digital design field for almost 20 years now and it's just as exciting as ever. My latest position as the web developer guy "Code Monkey" at work is really more technical than creative these days but I am surrounded by some great artists and designers every day and I still keep my creative juices flowing with my own person art and designs in my free time. In fact I'm currently diving back in and stirring the waters of the pixel pond once again with the intentions of sharing some new creations with others in the Metaverse.

So here's to art and artists . . . show the world your vision . . . be inspired . . . never stop creating . . . see the beauty in all there is.
